News You Can Use:
Outsourcing Work Saves Owners Time

Small businesses often don't have a human resources department, so owners relegate hiring to their spare time -- but it should be their top priority. This is step three in a series of tips from Gannett News Service that small-business owners can use to attract staff:
Outsourcing. Tech work such as Web site maintenance is another hard-to-fill job. Yet, like accounting, it can be farmed out to companies specializing in helping small companies. "You just write . . . a check once a month," says Brendan Courtney, a senior vice president at Spherion, a staffing company in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Indeed, the entire hiring process for any job can be turned over to a professional employer organization, which will also help train employees, write performance review forms and create medical and other benefit plans.
For example, Integrated Staffing, a PEO in Peabody, Mass., creates job descriptions and screens applicants. "Clients make the final decision about who to hire," says president Laurie LaBrie.
